The study analyses the slow but inevitable penetration of fascism into the Faculty of Law of the University of Turin. Based on papers from the historical archive of the University of Turin, the research aims at piecing together the early phases of the regime by examining the minutes of the boards of both the Faculty of Law and the Academic Senate, as well as the annual reports dating back to the early years of the Fascist period. While it is not easy to pinpoint the exact date of the so-called fascistization of the University of Turin, it can certainly be said that by 1931-1933 the University appears to be fully integrated into the regime’s judicial system – the delay being probably due to the monarchy’s role and the makeup of Turin’s ruling class.[Abstract appeared in the Journal]
